How Therapy Can Help Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery is not the “easy way out” for weight loss, and it is necessary for improving the health of that individual. It is quickly becoming the first line of medical treatment for Type II Diabetes due to the success rate of reducing ones A1C. Dr. Rosecrans understands the importance of this surgery and how difficult it can be to make the changes required to obtain the surgery and have a successful outcome. Bariatric surgery changes ones lifestyle in every way, and it does not always involve food.

Therapy for bariatric surgery helps identify our eating behaviors and emotions that will interfere with the surgical outcome. Dr. Rosecrans collaborates with you to create an individualized treatment strategy.

Treatment will address, but is not limited to the following:

  • Binge Eating
  • Over-Eating
  • Emotional Eating (eating when anxious, sad, frustrated, angry, upset, etc.)
  • Stress Eating
  • Eating When Bored
  • Grazing or Snacking Throughout The Day
  • Mindless Eating
  • Accessibility to Food
  • Going Out To Eat
  • Getting Fast-Food
  • Social Gatherings
  • Meal Planning
  • Preparing Meals
  • Eating On-The-Go
